VOP Programs
VOP Pulmonary Unit
The first clinical volunteering department that we opened is located in the pulmonary unit. Many patients at the VA are geriatric smokers or veterans exposed to chemicals during their time with the military. Our volunteers in this department assist in the CPAP group, Bronchoscopy suite, and home Oxygen clinic.
VOP 5k
The VOP 5k is our biggest fundraiser taking place each fall. The veterans 5k is a walk, run, or roll to bring students and veterans together and raise more awareness for our local veteran community. By bringing veterans and students together, we hope to encourage veteran-student interactions. For more information on how to get involved and future dates follow VOP's Instagram page.
VOP Customer Service
VOP Thank You Cards
Veterans Outreach Program hosts general body meetings monthly. Our main goal with each meeting is designed to write as many thank you cards as possible. These Thank You cards are distributed to boxes at entrances to the local VA to show our gratitude and appreciation for their service.
All volunteers within Veterans Outreach Program start off in the customer service department. Our goal with customer service volunteering is to ease patient interaction and accessibility. Navigating a hospital is difficult enough and by providing volunteers who escort patients, provide free coffee, and brighten their day, we can make the overall experience smoother.
